Book Signing in Jackson Library
JJ Lair
From hidden secrets to thrilling tales and adventures beyond the ordinary. Blue collar characters caught in twisted tales. These contemporary tales resonate on every page.
I update new blogs, short stories that may become a novel and to-do lists all time time.
My writing space is loaded with history books open to explore. Don’t be surprised if history shows up in a story. I could have any number of podcasts or purchased music playing while I explore this world.
I try to be part of several writer/critique groups. Over time those groups have dwindled or changed, but I keep writing and meeting with other authors.
Each morning begins with looking up Sally Forth, Pearls Before Swine, Drabble, Pickles, Peanuts comics.
Music is important for inspiring creativity. The music I look to depends on my mood or scene. I have every Springsteen album and 1980s Blondie. There is always Moby, Ministry, Elvis Presley, Beach Boys, Miles Davis. Diana Krall is my chill music. The music library has over twenty-eight thousand songs, there is always something to listen to.
I always enjoy a Bond film, Billy Wilder directed movies, and the Marvel Universe. If the movie can do what it sets out to do, I may enjoy it. I liked Grease 2 just as much as The King's Speech.
To write, one needs to read. You can tell from my blog: mixtapeshistory.blogspot.com that I've read a lot of Sophie Kinsella, Jeff Shaara, Joyce Carol Oates, Elmore Leonard, John Gardner.
I’m a member of a few Arts Councils.
