Mix Wants a Stereo

In Mix Tapes and Empty Buildings, Mix tries to get the money to buy a stereo.This stereo was build into a cabinet. It sounds odd at first, but Mix relishes the chance to own such a big piece of furniture with big stereo speakers. Mix enjoys music. He also enjoys how the many ways to enjoy music. This stereo isn't modern (at the time of the story). This piece of furniture says I like my music and I'm willing to fill the whole wall with this. 

In my life, I've had family members that owned such stereos. The cabinets were about four feet across and maybe that high. There was a lid that lifted up and inside was a vinyl record player. They often had a radio too. Some stereos had 8 track tape players too. That's a blog for another day. 

By the time cassettes became popular, component stereos were the popular version.
