Orville images dinner with his heroes
Orville Blubacher sat in a cell at the juvenile prison. The eight months he served made him gave him the time to believe that he had it right all along. They sentenced him for stealing, injuring a disabled girl, and resisting arrest. They should be arrested, not him.
All because he wanted some artifacts.
The newspapers he read and the books showed him that getting stuff however you do it was the right thing to do.
If he could meet with those celebrated money men, they would tell him how getting stuff is important.
Cornelius Vanderbilt made his money buying and using railroad lines. The guy had control of half the country. What did he do? He created The Breakers. The mansion had art crammed in corners because he had no place to put it all. He had a huge place and owned more big houses than he could use. We love him for it.
John Rockefeller made his money in oil. The guy wanted to be the richest man in America. He outdid Vanderbilt. He outdid Carnegie. He controlled 90% of the oil in the country. He spent that money on himself. He bought fancy houses and property. People still love him.
Andrew Carnegie owned steel companies. When he wanted to have a party, but it rained too much, he made a dam. When the dam broke, it flooded Johnstown Pennsylvania, but no one cared, except the people that live there. He violently crushed strikes. Today, he is a caring hero.
Ivan Boesky is an investor who is filthy rich. He is on magazine covers, eats with politicians and is called a hero.
J. Paul Getty was another oil company owner. He bought paintings for his house and no one else could see them. When someone kidnapped his grandson he wouldn’t pay ransom. It was his money.
Imagine dinner with them. Each would want all the dinner rolls. Each would want a bigger plate. The conversation would be worth it. How would they take from each other or how could they take more from everyone else. How to change the rules to benefit them. How to own a politician or newspaper so you’re a hero for anything you do.
I need to know how to get more and more and be celebrated for it. These are big American heroes who did what they wanted. There were no jails for them only more art and houses than they could use.
