What Happened to Fuddruckers?

I found an old newspaper today. There was an advertisement for Fuddruckers. I never went to one, but the name fascinates me. Was it named for Elmer Fudd? From what I read on Wikipedia, the founder wasn’t Fuddrucker. A guy named Phil Romano started it. The restaurant chain was known for their hamburgers. I went to the website and it looks appetizing.

I remember they were the trendy franchise back in the 1980s. Then all of a sudden, they were gone in the 1990s. There are several restaurant chains from the 1980s that are long gone. This chain is trying to hold on with the few places they have left, but there are none near here.
