Allaire Village-Howell New Jersey

Allaire Village in Howell/Wall New jersey is a small village that focuses on re-enactments of life back in the later half of the 1800s. They have original houses, a metalworks, train, and of course, the gift shop.
Allaire was once a company town. The Howell Metal Works company was so big that it needed several buildings of manufacturing. Back in the 1800, transportation wasn't easy so people lived and worked in the same area. The company smelted cast iron that made home goods and ships. The company owner took the metal to Manhattan and sold it to New York businesses. The people that worked there didn't travel to Manhattan to help sell the metal.
Allaire still has the blacksmith and  carpenters. They spend the day showing how someone would've worked in these areas. They dress in period clothing and really do get right next to the fires and tools needed. There is a church. Every Spring they have a re-enactment of Maria Allaire's wedding. At Christmas they have a show of period Christmas carols. The owner’s house is available for tours.
Every weekend they run events. Any weekend is a good time to check it out.
The above info came from the official Allaire Park website and Wikipedia.
