Historic Smithville Village
Smithville is a small historical village in New Jersey. Located in Galloway right off Route 9. The village is easy to find and explore.
I haven’t been there in a few years. They used to have a bookstore, housewares, boating equipment stores and restaurants housed in historical houses. They weren't actual houses, they were front facades of houses. Once inside the store, it looked like a normal store. The public bathrooms were in a reconfigured house.
The book store is no longer listed on the town website, historicsmithville.nj.com. I went there just to visit the bookstore. It was independent so they used to carry a lot of local authors and books about the area. There are still gift stores, a candle shop, collectables, and a Christmas shop. The giant merry go-round is still in service also.
The town is on by a lake so there are ducks and feeders so a person can throw treats to the ducks.
For a short day trip, Smithville Village is an enjoyable place to see.
