Mix Tape's History Remix

Billy Ocean Mix Tapes

Chapter 1 of Mix Tapes and Stuff is titled "Billy Ocean Mix Tapes."
We start with that title because the kitchen staff of Tartan’s love his music. Billy Ocean was the type of artist that would be playing in a public place. He played Top 40 and adult contemporary but he was never bland. It's because he never strung together a bunch of cliches and called that a song. He felt true. Even if you don't care for his style, you have to admit, he was true to his work.

If you weren't alive to know of Billy Ocean in his heyday of the 1980s, you can find some of his classic songs on YouTube.

First I'd like to tell you about this wonderful artist.

Billy Ocean was born in 1950. He learned music at a young age and released his first song to the public in 1971. His first full album was released in 1976. He had become successful with reggae before he changed style. This change of style would bring him to American audiences.
Caribbean Queen (No more love on the run) was written by Billy and Keith Diamond. The song would win Billy the Grammy for Best R&B vocal. He followed this up in 1986 with When The Going Gets Tough. Through the 1980s Billy Ocean would have a string of hits.

He took a break from recording between 1993 to 2008. In 2002, he was given an honorary Doctorate of Music degree. For most of the time, he stayed with his family and lived happily.

Then, he got bored. He made new music and started touring again.

The current Billy Ocean song released is called Love Train. It’s available on itunes.
Today, Billy Ocean tours the world. He's sold over 30 million records during his career.

If you want to see this legend, who doesn't get enough respect in this country as he should, he'll be at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank in February.

This information came from Wikipedia and the Billy Ocean official site which is www.billyocean.com
