Mix Tape's History Remix

Dina's Favorite Band the Bangles

In Chapter 2 of Mix Tapes &Stuff, we find out that Dina's favorite band is the Bangles.

This is who they were and are.

Back in the early 80's a young girl named Susanna Hoffs answered an ad in a paper put by two sisters, Vicki and Debbie Peterson. The Petersons were putting a band together and needed members. Susanna had an interest in music and had attended several concerts so she answered. This meeting would be very successful.

Over the next few years that band would be called, Colours, the Supersonic Bangs, and the Bangs. These names were taken by other bands so the women adjusted the name of their band to The Bangles.
Their first TV appearance was on American Bandstand in 1983.
They hit the big time with a song written by Prince called Manic Monday. It was a #2 hit.

They followed that up with If She Knew What She Wants, Eternal Flame and a remake of Hazy Shade of Winter
They broke up in 1989. Its possible that they may have had more success but the tension of success took its toll.
Susanna Hoffs released some solo records that didn't have a big impact on the music world. The women went about enjoying life and the impact they had made.
Enough time had passed and the women got together again. They reunited the band in 1999.
The Bangles haven't had much success on the music charts, but they play to enthusiastic crowds in concert. The fans are happy and the videos on Youtube look enjoyable.

The above information came from the official band website.
