Grrrrr The movies were too good!
I loved watching the Thin Man movies that I've posted about because at one time, it was what I hoped for. Nick always had a clever comeback. He was cool and in control. When we meet him, he’s training the bartenders at the nightclub on the proper way to make a drink. The bartenders still like him for it. When we meet Nora, Nick orders two drinks for them and she says that she’ll have the same.
How could you not laugh and want to hang around with them?
They drank and weren’t a$$holes. The smoked but didn’t smell. Even when he was clueless, Nick still acted like the smartest guy in the room without being annoying about it. He told stories but didn’t brag. Nora was posh.
I wish to be them, know them, write about them.
I couldn’t.
In the world, people like this don't happen. That's the glory of movies.
My books are nothing like these movies. I have some fast talking characters. I have try to create the boy-girl banter, but I can't write for Nick Charles.
So I will watch the movies and enjoy them.
As for Joe and Cate in Dear Pen Pal, Mark and Abby in Dream Dancing, I think you'll see some of what I learned from these movies.
Halfway through the series. next week another movie.
