We Want "Another Thin Man"

We had two fun classic movies in the series so far. Let’s see if we can do it again.

William Powell is back as Nick Charles. Myrna Loy is Nora. Adding to the cast is Otto Kruger (I just like the name- no one is named Otto anymore) Sheldon Leonard (after playing villians in the 1940s and 1950s, including a Honeymooners episode, Leonard will go on to produce some of your favorite television comedies of the 1960s. Two characters on "Big Bang Theory" are named as an homage to him. Not relevant to this movie, but in case you see the name in the credits.) Marjorie Main and Shemp Howard (yes of Three Stooges fame!)

We have a big time cast and the movie is based on a Dashiell Hammett story called “The Farewell Murder.” Same writers-same director. You already know this will be good.

Nick and Nora investigate the murder of Nora’s Father’s business partner Colonel Burr MacFay. Simple enough plot. Who would kill an accountant? The double crosses and plotline twists are intriguing. How was there an explosion before the deadly shot? Who would want the man dead? Someone makes a thinly veiled threat against Nick and his family. Nick shows anger instead of his usual cool.
The writers continue the twists and turns of the last movies with this one. It's rare, but we have another sequel as good as the prior movies.
The humor comes from the addition of Nick Jr who upends their carefree lifestyle. The parties are less. The all-nighters are over. Nick Jr. is also kidnapped! There's no easy living for the family.
Nick is also growing up. He swears off alcohol for the sake of Nick Jr, but he still cringes at apple cider.

This is first movie not to grab an Academy Award nomination in any category. Don't let that turn you off. It was still a huge moneymaker. The cast and story are still solid.
