How to Make Love like a Porn Star-Jenna Jameson
While editing Dream Dancing, I wanted to make sure the characters were believeable. I read some books on the life of an adult entertainer and the dancers. As you read the past few weeks, some of the books were by the entertainers themselves. This book was published around 2003.
Jenna Jameson was the most famous porn star of the 1990s and early 2000s. She was on the Howard Stern show and in his Private Parts movie. Her book was a big seller. Without a major scandal or major movie, Jenna Jameson became a mainstream name. She appeared in several pornographic movies her career.
The book was good for the first half. The rest was redundant and boring.
The book began with her real name and her life in high school and so forth. It's not an ordinary life that she wants to flee from. She is assaulted at a young age. Her mother passes away. Jenna runs away from her family and everyone she knew to escape. It's not an escape to better life. She dances in the Crazy Girls revue at Riviera Casino in Las Vegas. The money is good and she has time for a life. She meets a guy and debuts in a bit part of a porno, giggling and wiggling through a scene that she didn't think much of. Jameson tells about and gives her opinions of some of the other stars at the time. Her use of drugs are also detailed. As her fame increases, she reconciles with family. She falls deeper and deeper into films and seeing what it does to the other women around her. She is very rich at the end.
The book didn't win any literary awards, but you wouldn't expect it to. She wrote in an easy to read conversational tone. There are pictures.
The book could've been shorter. After the book came out, Jameson got married, divorced, has had troubles with relationships. Yet she is still successful and wealthy.
