Scary new customer at Babes-Chapter 14

A man with a buzz cut haircut, a dirty white T-shirt, and jeans with holes in the knees walked into a go-go bar in North Jersey. A small stage was set behind a bar against a mirror-covered wall. The only light was from a neon beer sign. A pre-programmed MP3 player provided music.

The dancer, clad in black leather, had her nose, navel, and ears pierced. Tattoos covered her tanned, flabby legs. Her greasy hair was dyed blonde. Her skin was dried and sun-burned.

The man took a seat and ordered a beer while he watched the dancer. “Hey, you know this dancer?” he grunted to the woman bartender. He held a picture of Abby.

“No,” the woman replied.

The dancer came to him for a tip but kept back because of his body odor. “What’s that?” she asked, when she saw the picture.

“She’s a good friend,” he said. “She ran away from Nevada. I have to find her.”

“Wow,” she said. “You came here from Nevada. That’s a couple of states away. What’s her name?”

“It’s more like a couple of thousand miles away,” he said, taking out a cigarette. The dancer put her hand on his hand so he continued. “In Nevada they called her Baby. I don’t know if she changed her name out here. It’s why I have her picture with me. Can I have my hand back to light my cigarette?”

“There’s no smoking in the bars in New Jersey,” the dancer said. “Baby is a common name. You’ll need to say more if you want to find her.”

“No smoking.” He laughed. “Are you serious?” When she nodded, he threw the cigarette across the bar to the stage. “F#######g stupid rules. Is there a way to find out where the go-go bars are in this state? Do they have guides or magazines or something like that?”

“There are magazines in the newspaper stores. Some have bar guides. This bar don’t have nothing like that. There’s a newspaper store a mile down the road.” She held her breasts out to him.

“A mile away?” He picked up his dollar and held it out to her. “You really helped me out.” He folded the dollar like it was for her but then stuffed it back in his pocket and laughed as he left the bar.
