A Random Time I saw Random Harvest

This 1942 movie stars Ronald Coleman as a WWI veteran who lives with partial amnesia. He doesn't know his real name or how he ended up where he did. The guy wanders about hoping for a clue to his past. He meets Paula Smith one night when he needs to get out and see the town. They fall in love and marry. Wouldn’t you know it, that’s when he gets his memory back.

He wanders London with no idea how he got there and no memory of Paula, but he remembers his WWI experiences.

The first half of the movie is a little slow because of all the story setup. The second half is where the story really pulls you in. The answers to his pasts are all right in front of him and yet he doesn’t see it.

The movie was nominated for seven Academy Awards including Best Picture.

When Random Harvest was released, war movies were heroes and bravery of battle. Very few took on what happens when the war is over.

The movie takes an attempt to show PTSD shell-shocked veterans at a time when no one thought there was such a thing. I don’t know how much is Hollywood versus real life when it comes to amnesia.

I came across this movie by chance. I never heard of it and don't know much about the actors. Glad I gave this a chance.

If you get a chance to see this movie, it was well done and worth the time.
