Boy-Lee asks a girl out

In the Mix Tapes series, we know that Mix Tape had a crush on Jennifer Vancouver. We know Boy-Lee develops a crush on Becca. What happened that Boy-Lee didn’t have a crush on Jennifer too?

Boy-Lee saw Jennifer in line at the cafeteria at lunch period. She wore a denim skirt which was rare. Jennifer usually wore tight sweats or long pants all the time. At least that’s what Lee remembered. He never really looked. The skirt changed things. 

She had straight legs like video game joysticks. Spring season has its advantages. 

He grabbed a cafeteria tray and got in line behind her. What could he say to her? 

Everyone walked to Roy Rogers on Friday nights. His friends had done it and just went back home. He could ask to see her there. They could talk and he would tell her about his classes or what magazines he read. She would tell him about herself. He never heard her voice before. Bet she sounded like a movie star. 

She took a pudding off a shelf. He did the same. They both liked pudding. It was something in common. Of course he should ask her out. 

“Hey Jennifer. Hey. after school Friday, want to hey un go to Roy Rogers?”

She turned, smiled without showing her teeth. She had dimples. “No.”
