Get a Job
A short story featuring characters from Mix Tapes and Stuff. Available in paperback and ebook.
Mix Tape had to get a job during the summer. He turned 16 and wanted pocket money so he had to get a job. He didn’t want to because he had too much fun doing other things. There were music stores to go to. Places to ride his bike. He wished he could get paid for what he does a lot. There was one time he went to an indoor flea market. All that fun stuff in one place.
He can tell you about it.
Dad took me to Route 1 Flea Market. There were shirt places, food, books and furniture. I found a case of records (music). We went through crates and found old records I never heard of. Genres I don’t normally find. I ain’t never listening to Dixieland. The covers of some albums were interesting with bright colors or faded pictures of old singers. Singers in tuxedos. Singers in regular clothes.
I wish I could get paid to search for these and listen to them and organize the record store. Imagine being able to see all these old records and hear them.
