Mix Tape's History Remix

Mix Tape's idea of a great date night

There was a Stewarts Hot Dog drive up restaurant near Schuyler. The building itself was small, the kitchen, a counter and outside tables. Orange walls surrounded the building. The bulk of the customers stayed in cars and a car hop would bring food out. Car hops weren’t like the 1950s image of girls on roller skates. It was usually guys. A car would have to honk to get someone to come out. They brought food out on a tray that had anchors so they could hang trays from car windows.

Mix wanted to get a car when he turned 17 so he could take a date there. He knew the food wouldn’t be great. It was all hotdogs and hamburgers. There were no fancy toppings, no desserts or dinner things.

Mix just figured that he could sit in a small space with a girl and talk. They could listen to music in the car. Public places wouldn’t play songs that would interest him so he could pick out the right music.

He wanted to wish for that, but it won’t happen. Girls didn’t want to sit in a car on a date. They wanted to see other people and see what they talk about.

If he had a cool car, he would drive a girl to a better place, but wouldn’t it have been great to be private at a cool place together?
